Dires Strait is the name of a band which began music without money.

Dire Straits’ sound drew from a variety of musical influences, including, jazz, folk, blues, and came closest to beat music within the context of rock and roll.

Dire Straits built their sound upon laid-back rock, but they also had country inflections, occasionally dipping into the epic song structures of progressive rock. The band’s music was offset by Knopfler’s lyrics, which approximated the winding, stream-of-conscious narratives of Bob Dylan. As their career progressed, Dire Straits became more refined and their new maturity coincided with the rise of MTV and the compact disc. « Sultans of swing » were the first album to be sell under this form.

Their first songs was against power of money as we can see in sultans of swing, the band explained they didn’t care because they were the sultans of swing. Money for nothing or love over gold confirmed this point of view.

Dire straits is one of the most band in 90’s. The « clear song » experimented by Mark Knopfler contributed to give an echo in the music.

They performed their songs on stage with a lot of famous artists : Sting, Eric Clapton, Steeve winwood, Phil collins.

Formed in 1991, Rage Against The Machine contributed to develop métal music with a hip-hop touch. Zach de la rocha (vocal) and Tom Morello (Guitar) are the most defenders of this movement, based on controversy and rebellion.

They use their music to rage against a capitalist and individual system.

A lot of examples confirm this choice. After their album « Battle of L.A », they made a tour around the world. Batlle of Mexico present a concert mixed with cultural and economical documentary on mexican system. The band has one day forced to close Wall street thanks a concert in the street. More, they gave their songs for the end of the movies Matrix. They also performed songs with Cypress Hill.

The group defend his position as anticorporatist and altermondialist. They think to be an alternative and a moderator of rébellion, in a world where inequalities are increasing.

Tom Morello has always a cap where we can read « UNITE ! ».

There’s no songs to isolate ! There’s the famous Whole Lotta Love and Heartbreaker but if you listen carefully you’ll find “The Lemon Song” where we can hear one of the most famous screaming of rock history. “Ramble On”, the bluesy “Bring It On Home” and the famous drum solo on “Moby Dick”. Nneka Lucia Egbuna (born 24 December 1980) is a Nigerian-German hip hop/soul singer and songwriter. She sings in both English and Igbo. Even though Nneka sings more than raps, she names hip hop as her primary musical root and most important source of inspiration, while citing artists such as Fela Kuti and Bob Marley as well as contemporary rappers Mos Def, Talib Kweli, and Lauryn Hill as key influences in her own pursuit of musical recognition. Her lyrics reflect much of her history and life in Nigeria as well as her time spent in Western Europe. Her songs stress the issues of capitalism, poverty and war and are often loaded with moral and biblical messages and references, with some music commentators comparing her to Erykah Badu, Neneh Cherry and Floetry.

Lewis Allan « Lou Reed » is an American rock musician, songwriter, and photographer. He is best known as guitarist, vocalist, and principal songwriter of The Velvet Underground, and for his successful solo career, which spans several decades and crosses multiple genres. The Velvet Underground gained little mainstream attention during their career, but became one of the most influential bands of their era. As the Velvet Underground’s main songwriter, Reed wrote about subjects of personal experience that rarely had been examined so openly in rock and roll, including a variety of sexual topics and drug culture. Written by Lou Reed in 1964, « Heroin » is one of the band’s most celebrated compositions, overtly depicting heroin use and abuse. Critic Mark Deming writes, « While ‘Heroin’ hardly endorses drug use, it doesn’t clearly condemn it, either, which made it all the more troubling in the eyes of many listeners ».

Snoop Dogg got his name from his mother who jokingly remarked that he looked like the Peanuts character Snoopy. Snoop is known primarily for his achievements in the music industry, as a gangsta MC. As most successful musicians seem to do at some point, Snoop Dogg has done some work in film. Due to the nature of his music and his related star persona, the primary focus of his film effort has been in urban drama and comedy. Unfortunately, the talented MC has had more than one brush with the law: he served a drug conviction prior to the start of his career as a hip-hop MC, just after he graduated from high school; and in 1993, he was charged with murder but was later found not guilty. “Drop It Like It’s Hot” is a 2004 rap number-one hit single by Snoop Dogg featuring Pharrell. Snoop performs the chorus and the second and third verses (of three), while Pharrell performs the first verse.

It was a Billboard Hot 100 number-one hit for three weeks from December 11, 2004, making it Snoop Dogg’s first number one on the chart. The song also gave him his first number one on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart. It has reached number ten in the UK Singles Chart. On December 11, 2009, the song was named the most popular “Rap Song” of the decade by Billboard.
