The Little Giant legend

West Brittany, to be honest was a place that had not crossed my mind until now…

I arrived for a few nights at Carnac, renowned for the Carnac stones, one of the most
extensive Neolithic menhir collections in the world – as well as its beaches.

I unpack my bagage at the famous Miramar Crouesty Hôtel Thalasso & Spa, this
amazing hotel. It look like a boat on the sea, people are really nice and the service is high level.

First thing I need to do, visit the Carnac stones, this site represents more than 3,000
prehistoric standing stones.

The stones were hewn from local rock and erected by the pre-Celtic people of
Brittany. Local tradition claims that the reason they stand in such perfectly straight
lines is that they are a Roman legion turned to stone by Merlin (Brittany has its own
local versions of the Arthurian cycle).

The Carnac stones were erected during the Neolithic period, which lasted from
around 4500 BC until 2000 BC. The precise date of the stones is difficult to ascertain
as little dateable material has been found beneath them, but the site’s main phase
of activity is commonly attributed to c. 3300 BC. One interpretation of the site is that
successive generations visited the site to erect a stone in honor of their ancestors.

This place inspires respect and interior peace. You immediately feel and imagine that
so many things happened here. Am sure you can tell by the photo why?

Carnac, Morbihan, Brittany (France): menhir and dolmen

Also, I love sport and Carnac is home to “École de Voile” which provides sailing and
windsurfing lessons and rentals to sailors of all experience levels. The geography of
the Bay of Quiberon provides ideal conditions for sailing. The Peninsula of Quiberon
provides protection from Atlantic waves and turbulence while allowing the Gulf Winds
to enter the bay.

For windsurfers, the Saint-Colomban beach located in Carnac-Plage. The beach is
very popular with windsurfers, as its position allows for the best exploitation of strong
winds from the West. Other beaches in the area provide equal access to the winds of
the bay but windsurfers may find themselves frustrated the areas of dead air close to
their shores.

A local myth holds that a unicorn lives in the waters off of the city.

Now, it’s time for lunch (or dinner). At any time this place serve amazing dishes,
seafoods, fish is a speciality … It called « Le Ratelier »

Saint Malo

This morning I’ve made my suitcase, with 10 pairs of shoes, 20 dresses of great fashion designers (No, I do not exaggerate) and several swimsuits because, today, I take you to Saint-malo for few days.

A breathtaking hotel

After 3 hours here we are in Saint-Malo, a sea resort surrounded with ramparts and a view of the sea. It is THE city where to go when you wish to visit Brittany : gastronomy, talasso, panorama. Everything is combined over there to make you live a real change of scene.

Arrived at the hotel, I choose to spend few days to Le Grand Hôtel des Termes, a luxurious hotel situated on the beach of Saint-Malo. There is an immense and design bedroom, a reception and a service as high as the reputation of the place, without speaking about the swimming pool and numerous about care (massages) which are proposed of SPA.

Thus I put my suitcases in my room and go for the city for a session shopping, restaurant and visit of Saint-Malo. After a long stroll on ramparts and port of the city, I say to myself that it would be time to go to eat.

The Crêperie MARGAUX

Since that we are in Saint Malo in Brittany, let me invite you at the Crêperie MARGAUX … a place where the crêpes are mouth-watering, even on a photograph !
The place is nice, a mixing of tradition and designer furniture with these Philippe Starck chairs. Looking at the menu, the pancakes are called Jérôme, Fanfan, Jojo, Caro … as if they were long-standing friends !

While drinking a glass of cider, you choose a Fanfan pancake, whereas I’m inclined to order a Caro pancake that arrives in front of my eyes : fried potatoes, onions fondue, reblochon (French cheese) , smoked bacon and green salad just to ease my conscience ! For your part, you savour the Fanfan pancake made of camembert, goat’s cheese, reblochon, walnut, salad and … « Camembert » ice !! Rather unusual, but it’s a perfect blend with the rest and a perfect mix (Katy Perry-like!…) hot/cold and crunchy/tender … But we don’t leave it at that, as, for the dessert, we take a Brice crêpe with salted butter caramel, melted chocolate, cookies and cookies ice …

So much surprise and delight in a crêperie, it’s hard to do better !

L’escalier, to end the evening in beauty

After this delicious restaurant, I suggest you to have a drink and dancing in L’escalier. This club is the only one being located in the middle of the city with a view of the sea.

Having drunks (some cider) in the creperie, the specialty oh the house. This club proposed a varied musical selection and pleasant thematic evenings (Boum de Luxe, What happened to the 80’s? The american night…).
