Let’s Gaga Blog !

YouTube Preview Image

Have  you seen the new music video of Lady Gaga ? NO ? Well, lucky you, I am going to post it.

This video clip is the most expensive ever.

” It seems like most anything Lady Gaga does will spark some sort of controversy. And while the “Judas” video is filled with biblical imagery that may spark lots of healthy debate, Gaga says she is not trying to anger any religious groups.

Shortly after the clip made its debut,  Gaga explained that it “is not meant to be an attack on religion. I respect and love everyone’s beliefs.” She expressed similar sentiments several times leading up to the premier of juda declaring that “it’s meant more to celebrate faith than it is to challenge it.” ” – MTV

Yesterday the band Panic! at the Disco was in Paris for a special show.

There was only two members of the original band.

That was a crazy show, one of the craziest show ever. So much energy, the crowd was sick and Brendon, the singer, even if he was sick, totally rocked the stage.

I will give a link, this way you will be able to watch  the vidéo of the interview and also some picture frome the show taken by Anais from Make my Millenium.

The fans were so happy to see them live again, the last time it was 4 years ago. We couldn’t asked for more, this show was perfect.

Facebook killed me

Okay, this is not a blog about litteracy. But we can talk about something every internet user kwows : the social network Facebook. We already know the film satyre by David Lynch.

A few month ago was published a book about Facebook and its bad consequences on daily life. The authors, Alexandre Designard and Thomas Zuber, evoque a few negative infleunces : mix between public and private life, alienation, waste of time. The fact is that Facebook users often forget to distinguish real and virtual identity. For instance, it’s very easy on  this social media to brodcast some fake image of itself, so viewers have a false percpeption of it.

Smartphones are also attacked by the two auhtors, accused of getting fooled the users (access facility getting people really impatient in daily life for example).

In a way this book is sort of a warning towards the new technologies that quickly interfered in our lives, including some changes which don’t seem pertinent at first sigth, but once analysed, appeared like some serious dangers

Jefferson Airplane

jefferson

Ok, they may not be the most famous band of the 1960’s, but still their music highly influenced the music world in the following years.

The band, which was founded in 1966, lanched their first album Jefferson Airplane takes off, a masterpiece for any blues-rock fan. From the psychedelic movement, the band is remembered for the feminine strong voice of its lead singer, Grace Slick, particularly on the hit singles White Rabbit and Somebody to Love.

Three of their albums remain as the greatest of music history : After bathing at Baxter’s (1967), Surrealistic Pillow (1968), Volunteers. Lyrism is the word that best qualify the band. Unfortunately, it didn’t last long, because the band turned into Jefferson Strarship at the middle of the 1970’s.

Mean streets reedition

As we’ve already mentionned it, Robert de Niro is the 64th Cannes festival President. And as a great coincidence, the film which offered him his first big cinema rôle has just been released again with 4 four extra time hours ! Mean Streets, which was shown on screen in 1972, is the first of a very long and how emblematic collaboration with director Martin Scorsese. The movie is a picture of the Little Italia at the time, where Bob De Niro plays a bad cantankerous boy in trouble. The film also stars what will become cinema figures : Harvey Keitel and dead David Carradine.

It’s like a witnessing of a period when we know the following of the story between de Niro and Scorcese : the Cannes Palme d’Or for the actor in Taxi Driver (1976) and a high consacration for Raging Bull (1980). The film ws shot with a very low budget, which strenghten that memory feeling. And yet Scorcese prooved he was a man of good taste also in his music choice : we can hear the Rolling Stones, The Marvelettes…

So, if you’re bored with that Cannes current thing, don’t hesitate, let’s get go down to the Mean Streets

Let Cannes begin!

Let Cannes begin !

Last Wednesday, it was a singular ovation for director Woody Allen, who introduces his new film, Midnight In Paris, opening the 64th edition of the Cannes festival. Let’s say that for this year, they didn’t play it sweetly : the festival president is Robert de Niro, maybe the greatest living actor. The mythic Taxi Driver comedian will be helped by french Melanie Laurent, the maid of the ceremony.

Of course, it’s a fabulous occasion to see back some current cinema stars : Gus Van Sant, awarded in 2003 for his drama Elephant, is back to open « Un certain regard » category with Restless. An another habitue, Lars Von Trier and his Melancholia, which is presented in competition and which stars Charlotte Gainsbourg.

From France, every eye will be turn at La Conquête, by Xavier Durringer. This fiction has recently been heard of a lot. The film show how French President Nicolas Sarkozy managed to win the election, and according to the teaser, the government should really not like which appears like a strong satirical tract towards them.

To get over, just a short list of the most-expected films : Le Gamin au vélo by Dardenne brothers, Pirates of the Carribean 4, La Piel que habito by Spanish famous director Pedro Almodovar.

Station to Station

stationtostation200On Squeeze, we like to make you discover some masterpieces, even if they’re 36 years old. Today we talk about Station to Station, the  10th album from the crazy Brittish singer David Bowie. There are a few facts which make it one of the greatest album of the 1970’s.

First thing to know, Bowie had just completed shooting the movie The Man Who Fell To Earth by Nicolas Roeg. After introducing Aladdin Sane and Ziggy Stardust three years earlier, Bowie will create another stubborn character for this new project, called The thin White Duke. The 6 tracks album are a crossover between many musical influences : rock, funk, but also blue-eyed soul.

And the result almost reaches the orgasm. Considered as David Bowie’s magnificient piece, Rolling Stone ranked it n°323 of its list of the 500 greatest albums of all the times. And off all the times, it remains like one of the most personal artwork from Bowie.

And it may be due to his large drug consumption at the time. Cocaine Milk, that’s what Bowie gets in for a whole month recording. Soon, he’ll be declared he has absolutely no memories about that recording. The important fact is that we do have.

Are we iPhone addicts?

When you wake up in the morning, bleary-eyed and still in bed, do you reach for your phone to check Facebook or read an email? If you answered yes, you are not alone. According to a survey conducted by telecommunications hardware manufacturer Ericsson, 35 percent of respondents grab their iPhone or Android phone and launch a mobile app before getting out of bed.

Checking Facebook and other social networks is the most popular activity with 18 percent of people reading their news feed while still in the sack. This trend of early morning Facebook-ing may increase in the future as 20 percent of survey respondents expect to buy a new mobile phone in the near future. One with Facebook, we presume.

Well, we can tell you from Squeeze that you’re not alone and that I am part of this 35% percent. I’m pretty sure that all the other squeezers do this too! I love checking my Facebook/Twitter  when I’m still sleepy and in my bed!
